Splash-proof, meets IPx5 standards

The international protection code (or IP) has a standard called “IPx5” which indicates the resistance of a product to a spray jet (simulating a severe splash at the rate of 12.5 liters/minute) at a distance of 2.5 meters for a period of three minutes in all directions. That’s a lot more than a just a “splash.”

Many people do not know that products intended for use in the marine environment should be engineered with water resistance in mind. They may assume they are, but they do not realize that they must be designed and engineered that way. While being totally water proof (submergible) is challenging for electronics, there are certain degrees of separation between products that are deemed “water resistant”. True marine products are more than just colored in white.
